SUMMARY:Microsoft Biology Initiative invites participants to workshop at RENCI
DESCRIPTION:The Microsoft Biology Initiative will hold a two-day workshop on the Microsoft Biology Foundation (MBF)\, an open source Microsoft .NET library and application programming interface for bioinformatics research\, April 19 and 20. \nThe workshop will take place at RENCI (Renaissance Computing Institute)\, 100 Europa Drive\, Suite 540\, Chapel Hill\, NC.  The workshop is free and open to all\, although seating is limited. Breakfast and lunch will be included on both days at no cost to participants. For details and an online registration form\, please see http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/events/mbf2011-chapelhill/. \nThe workshop consists of six modules developed by the MBF and includes lectures and hands-on sessions for each module. Module topics are Introduction to Visual Studio 2010 and C#\, Introduction to MBF\, Working with Sequences\, Parsers and Formatters\, Algorithms and Web Services. \nThe Microsoft Biology Initiative (MBI) is an effort in Microsoft Research to bring new technology and tools to the area of bioinformatics and biology. The initiative is comprised of two primary components\, the Microsoft Biology Foundation (MBF) and the Microsoft Biology Tools (MBT). Founded in 2004 as a major collaboration involving Duke University\, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill\, RENCI is an institute of UNC-Chapel Hill with facilities across North Carolina.
